History: Kailasanathar Kovil in Kovalam, Chennai, has a rich history dating back to the Pallava dynasty (7th-9th centuries CE).
The temple is believed to be over 1,200 years old and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. According to legend, the temple was built by the Pallava king, Rajasimha (also known as Narasimhavarman II), who ruled from 700-728 CE.
